Growing up in St. Louis, Tatum wasn't exactly privy to the ins and outs of Celtics lore. 'I had no idea who Cedric Maxwell was. I thought he was just like a radio guy,' Tatum said. 'I didn't know that he played on the team, and he won Finals MVP.'
Tatum reflected on his growth in Boston and the level of appreciation he gained for the Celtics' history. 'You just grow a level of appreciation through your time here,' Tatum expressed. He also shared how embraced he feels in the city with high expectations and excitement around the team.
Maxwell, a Celtics legend, had his jersey retired and has been part of the radio team since 2001. Tatum acknowledged learning about various figures from the Celtics' past and their importance to the organization.
Tatum emphasized that despite high expectations in Boston, he doesn't view it as pressure. He highlighted the overwhelming support from the city during the playoffs: 'It's Celtics gear everywhere and everybody is super excited about this team.'
