Celtics center Amari Williams earns praise from Jaylen Brown in his NBA debut
""That was impressive from Amari, I'm not going to lie," Brown stated post-game. "He hasn't been with us, a lot of pressure, high-profile game, to come in and make an impact? Credit to him.""
""Amari Williams, he's a monster," Maine Celtics head coach Phil Pressey said earlier this month. "I think he has a high upside.""
""I didn't have any idea I was gonna play, to be honest," Wiliams told CelticsBlog after Wednesday's victory over the Pistons."
Amari Williams, a 6-foot-11 center drafted by the Celtics in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, made his NBA debut after being called up from the G League while Neemias Queta is sidelined with an ankle injury. Williams played 15 minutes against the Pistons, scoring one point, grabbing three rebounds, and recording two blocks. He was tasked with guarding Jalen Duren and helped hold him to 12 points, well below his 20-point average, and secured the final rebound to seal the victory. Williams averaged 12.7 points and 10.7 rebounds with the Maine Celtics and earned praise for his defense, passing, and upside.
