When could Bruins first-round draft pick James Hagens play in NHL?
Briefly

The Boston Bruins secured a promising No. 1 center by drafting James Hagens from Boston College with the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. At just 18, he had an impressive season with 37 points, which earned him a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie team and a gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Championships. Bruins GM Don Sweeney emphasized a careful approach regarding Hagens' development, hinting at the prospect of him playing another year at Boston College to refine his skills and possibly adopt a more aggressive scoring mindset before transitioning to the NHL.
Hagens is an elite playmaker, but he was a little too deferential at times as a freshman. It's hard to fault him too much, though, considering his linemates were two fantastic goal scorers in Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault.
He will come right back and join us for development camp and we'll just incrementally have discussions about where he's at. There will be no hurry to try and fast-track James.
