The Hurricanes achieved their third straight win, reaching 50 wins this season. They are now within three points of the New York Rangers for the top spot in the division.
Carolina dominated the Bruins on their home ice, outshooting Boston 15-6 in the second period, controlling much of the game. Hurricanes took the season series lead.
Despite the loss, Boston still leads the Atlantic Division with a record of 46-18-15. Bruins' four-game winning streak came to an end, with goalie Swayman making 22 saves.
