"That was one of the most frustrating things, especially doing something you're excited for with the Olympics in midseason. Making the decision of not to go was really hard,"
"Even watching the games now it's a little hard, that I can't be there and experience it. On the other, not missing too many games in the regular season with the break is also good, that I had the time to slowly come back is nice."
"I thought right away that I'm going to be going because I was feeling better and then it was stagnant and it started to get worse,"
"For three days it was good and then it started to get worse in the next five or six days. Within the timeline, I knew (it would be hard to come back)....It was frustrating, but health is the No. 1 thing. I couldn't perform at a 100"
Pavel Zacha has been highly durable since joining Boston in 2022, appearing in 296 of 303 regular-season games and all 20 playoff games. On January 29 against the Philadelphia Flyers he suffered an upper-body injury, apparently on a Nicolas Deslauriers check, that prevented him from joining Czechia at the Olympics. He initially expected to go but symptoms stagnated and then worsened over several days, making Olympic participation impossible. He returned to Bruins practice and looks ahead to the final 25 regular-season games, prioritizing health because he could not perform at 100 percent.
