According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Bruins and Swayman are far apart on the terms of a new deal, despite positive talk of commitment to an extension.
Friedman noted that the speculated 4-year, $6.2 million offer from the Bruins has not been disputed, but Swayman seeks a significantly higher number.
Friedman indicated that Swayman is looking for an eight-year deal similar to Charlie McAvoy's $9.5 million contract, highlighting a big financial gap.
Despite both sides' optimism about reaching a deal before training camp, which starts on Sept. 15, recent meetings have not produced significant progress.
