Casey Mittelstadt was obtained by the Boston Bruins at the trade deadline in a package for Charlie Coyle. Drafted eighth overall in 2017 after one season at the University of Minnesota, Mittelstadt struggled early in Buffalo and was demoted to the AHL in his third pro season. He posted career highs of 15 goals and 44 assists for 59 points in 2022-23 and began the following season with similar production before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado signed him to a three-year, $5.75 million-per-season contract in summer 2024. Mittelstadt recorded 3 goals and 6 assists in 11 playoff games with Colorado before being dealt again at the subsequent deadline.
