Bruins sign Alex Steeves to two-year contract extension

Boston announced it signed Steeves to a two-year contract extension - carrying an annual cap hit of $1.625 million. A longtime AHLer who only appeared in 14 games across four seasons with the Maple Leafs, Steeves has made the most of his opportunity this year with Boston after signing a one-year deal over the summer."

"Since getting called up to the NHL ranks on Nov. 8, only seven Bruins forwards have posted more points than Steeves. A native of Bedford, New Hampshire, Steeves has emerged as a Swiss Army Knife in Marco Sturm's forward corps. Beyond being capable of skating both in a bottom-six role and a top-line spot when called upon, Steeves has also logged reps on both the power play and penalty kill."

"During a 13-game stretch starting in late November where he primarily skated up in Boston's top-six grouping, Steeves scored seven goals in 13 games. He has quieted down since then, scoring zero goals and posting four assists over his last 12 outings. Still, Steeves has brought value further down in the lineup as an aggressive forechecker - ranking fourth on the team with 117 hits despite spending most of the first month of the season in Providence."

He has skated in both bottom-six and top-line roles, logged time on the power play and penalty kill, ranked fourth on the team with 117 hits, and produced a seven-goal stretch in 13 games before a recent scoring lull. Boston also extended defenseman Jonathan Aspirot, leaving only one unsigned forward through 2026-27.
