Bruins' show goes on in New York as Boston looks to stay red hot
"After Dallas, a real playoff team, everyone came back and was disappointed. And then to play almost the same kind of a team, a Vegas team, and we beat them. Today, we had to beat a really good, high-end skilled skating team. Totally opposite of Vegas. So that showed us, that gives me the confidence that we can play different styles, too."
"The 21-year-old may not bring a wow-factor to any one particular skill, but he has a certain "it" factor, where he has a knack for anticipating the play and where the puck is going instead of where it is."
The Boston Bruins have gone 9-2 in January, moving back into the playoff bracket as the second wild card, one point behind the Montreal Canadiens. The Bruins beat Montreal Saturday with three power-play goals. Coach Marco Sturm said consecutive wins over Dallas, Vegas and Montreal show the team can play different styles and compete with high-end opponents. The team left after the Montreal game to avoid a pending blizzard and travel to New York to face the Rangers, aiming to reach .500 on the road. The Brandon Carlo trade looks excellent with 21-year-old Fraser Minten contributing a late third-period equalizer and raising his season total to 13 goals. Some questions remain about Minten's offensive upside, but his anticipation and "it" factor have stood out.
