Alex Steeves made his first NHL appearances with his new organization in a home-and-home against the Toronto Maple Leafs, filling in for injured Casey Mittelstadt on the second line with Pavel Zacha and Viktor Arvidsson. He forced a turnover and applied forechecking pressure that led to Arvidsson's goal, recorded a team-high five hits in 13:22 of ice time, and described his play as solid while aiming to hold pucks longer and get more shots to the net. Undrafted from Notre Dame, Steeves posted four strong AHL seasons with the Marlies before leaving as a free agent for more NHL opportunity.
