Bruins hire 2010 Winter Classic hero as next coach
Briefly

Marco Sturm has been appointed as the new head coach of the Boston Bruins, taking over from Joe Sacco. A former Bruin himself, Sturm is recognized for his pivotal role in the team's history and has a strong coaching background, notably leading the German national team to Olympic silver in 2018 and achieving success with the AHL's Ottawa Reign. His hiring follows an underwhelming season for the Bruins, who now focus on revamping the team, especially with the upcoming NHL Draft where they hold the No. 7 pick.
Sturm played hero for Boston in 2010, scoring the game-winning OT goal in the Bruins' first Winter Classic at Fenway Park.
Sturm inherits a team that went 33-39-10 last season, after trading away key players including Charlie Coyle and Brad Marchand.
