Bruins' flurry of moves to start free agency didn't address team's top weakness
Briefly

Don Sweeney effectively maximized the value of veteran players at the trade deadline and garnered praise for the Bruins' 2025 draft class. Recent signings included Morgan Geekie and Mason Lohrei to team-friendly contracts. However, the onset of NHL free agency stalled this positive momentum. Despite being one of the league’s worst offensive teams last season, the Bruins acquired bottom-six forwards lacking offensive talent, disappointing fans and analysts. Sweeney acknowledged the previous season's struggles and aims to re-establish the team’s competitive edge.
Only two players who finished the season on the roster -- David Pastrnak and Geekie -- scored more than 17 goals. The Bruins need true difference-makers to get back to the playoffs.
