MBTA Red Line dispatches shuttle buses after train becomes disabled
Briefly

On Monday, the MBTA temporarily replaced Red Line service between Alewife and Harvard with shuttle buses for nearly four hours due to a disabled train near Davis. Initial delays were announced soon after 11 a.m., which escalated to the need for shuttle bus service. The shuttle system continued until the disabled train was cleared, and by 3:25 p.m., service resumed with continued delays. Passengers reported a "loud crash" during the incident, attributed to the coupling of another train to clear the disabled one.
"Coupling a train entails towing a disabled train with a functional one in order to clear the tracks," the spokesperson said. The noise passengers heard were two trains attempting to hitch.
