Man arrested in Harvard, MIT dorm break-ins
Police arrested a 31-year-old man accused of breaking into dormitories at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Officers took the suspect into custody on Wednesday afternoon with help from the Wakefield Police Department and Massachusetts State Police. Harvard police charged him with assault and battery, kidnapping, burglary, and unlawful entry with the intent to commit a felony. The arrest followed incidents on May 19 at Harvard and later that evening at MIT. At Harvard, an unknown male allegedly entered a residential house without authorization, approached a student from behind, covered the student’s mouth, and attempted to force the student into a room. The victim was not injured. Another incident involved an unknown man attempting to follow a student into a dormitory and grabbing the student’s wrist near Memorial Drive.
""The victim screamed, prompting several nearby residents to exit their rooms, at which point the suspect fled the area," the alert said. The victim was not injured. That same evening, another student contacted police about an incident that happened at the Peabody Terrace dormitory around the same time. The victim told police that an unknown man approached them on the sidewalk near Memorial Drive and attempted to follow them into one of the residential buildings in the complex."
