The service disruption will allow the MBTA to address 16 speed restrictions as part of its Track Improvement Plan. Transit officials also mentioned additional work including lighting repairs, painting, and deep cleaning at impacted stations.
Commuters are advised to plan for extra travel time due to closures on parts of the Blue Line and Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail. Shuttle buses will replace service during the disruptions.
