They emphasize that Gomes, who has no criminal record and was brought to the U.S. as a child, is a beloved member of their community. Gomes was detained in a 'collateral arrest' aimed at finding his father, reviving controversial practices previously banned under the Biden administration.
"Please bring my son back, I miss my son so much," Gomes' mother, Daiane Pereira, said as her husband João Paulo Gomes Pereira visibly fought back tears and comforted her.
"I just really miss having him with me. I just want to give him a hug back... But, ICE, please get him out," Miguel said in the video.
