Police shot a 26-year-old man in Lexington after he allegedly approached them with a knife. Officers responded to a 911 call about the man injuring himself. Upon arrival, police escorted two residents out, leaving the man alone. He then came outside with a large kitchen knife and advanced on officers. Less lethal force was attempted but failed. A Wilmington police officer fatally shot the man, who died at the scene. An investigation is underway to determine the officer's criminal responsibility.
