Atlas may resemble a human form factor, but we are equipping the robot to move in the most efficient way possible to complete a task, rather than being constrained by a human range of motion.
The new Atlas will be stronger, with a broader range of motion than any of our previous generations, as well as be more dexterous and more agile.
Boston Dynamics envisions all sorts of commercial applications for the new Atlas, with plans to demonstrate its abilities and collaborate with companies like Hyundai in testing and iterating Atlas applications.
Boston Dynamics is targeting a battery life of four hours for a commercial version of the robot and expects the humanoid to be capable of swapping out its own battery.
