Rain will transition to freezing rain, sleet, and snow as colder air moves in from north to south. The freezing rain poses particular icing concerns, with up to 0.25 inches or more of ice accumulation possible in higher elevations. Temperatures warming aloft while remaining cold at the surface will create conditions favorable for freezing rain formation. Both Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes will be impacted by slippery road conditions. Conditions will improve this weekend with temperatures warming to the 50s by Sunday and 60s early next week.
