Madeleine Wickham, who wrote under the pen name Sophie Kinsella, died in London on December 10 at age 55 following a glioblastoma diagnosis. She was diagnosed in 2022 and shared information about her diagnosis and treatments with fans in 2024. Her family announced the death on Instagram, saying she died peacefully and her final days were filled with family, music, warmth, Christmas and joy. An Oxford graduate and former financial journalist, she published more than 30 novels over three decades, including ten Shopaholic books and numerous standalones. Her 2024 semi‑autobiographical novel reflected her experiences and she was shortlisted for "Author of the Year." She is survived by her husband, Henry Wickham, and five children.
