The episode was described as unexciting yet functional, akin to an informative show lacking real drama. While the review found half the contestants engaging, there was disappointment over eliminations and a feeling of increasing blandness among the remaining queens. The challenge of creating music videos was seen as simplistic, allowing little room for nuance or creativity. Despite this, there remained optimism that the competition would highlight the more interesting queens, ensuring that the show would still be enjoyable moving forward.
Watching this week's episode of Drag Race is like watching an episode of How It's Made: Everybody does their job, I am able to gather information, and there's no real tension.
The hope is that, even if it's not gripping TV, it will at least be funny and fun enough to endear us to the contestant pool.
I would say this episode worked about 50 percent on me - as in, I'm pretty enchanted by about half the girls, and the other half make my eyes glaze over.
But all hope is not lost! Ignoring this week's elimination, the show is on track to do what it does best: Funnel the most interesting competitors into the top.
