Pensacola is more than beaches, breweries and history. Book lovers have found a home, too.
Briefly

The city boasts 3.91 bookstores and 3.16 libraries per 10,000 residents, creating a vibrant literary landscape. Pensacola's literary scene is highlighted by the Books By the Bay Festival, which draws over 50 authors, booksellers, and literary enthusiasts annually. Open Books, a volunteer-run shop supporting prison literacy programs statewide, further enriches the city's unique book culture.
That's amazing," said Tonya Dalhaus, president of Emerald Coast Writers, about the ranking. "That should get even more people excited for next year's festival. We're making a few changes, and it will be bigger and better.
The 2023 Books By the Bay festival drew about 1,800 booklovers downtown, and featured more than 50 national and regional authors and dozens of exhibitors and vendors selling new, used and vintage books.
Pensacola, Florida, ranks #4 among U.S. destinations for book lovers, confirming that the city is solidifying its status as a top destination for book lovers.
