An 11-year-old girl named Niovi has created the Talking Tree Collective, a project featuring whimsical stories for trees in Hackney Marshes. Over the past year, she invented backstories for each tree during family walks, giving them personalities and names. Characters include Humble Dick, a brave tree from a fictional war, and Bernard, a litter-picking tree. The signs are anonymous, attributed to the collective, and her father assists with the signs while allowing Niovi to lead the creative process. The signs will remain for a few weeks, offering a joyful experience to passersby.
