Jeremy Halvard Prynne, known as JH Prynne, died on 22 April at the age of 89. He was a prominent British poet and academic, born in Bromley, Kent, in 1936. Prynne served in the British army before studying English at Cambridge. He published his first collection in 1962 and became a key figure in bridging American postmodern and British poetry. Despite his aversion to publicity, he published numerous collections and was regarded as a cult figure. His work continues to be influential, with a significant volume of new poetry expected in 2024.
