As Baldur's Gate 3's Player Count Surges In The Wake Of Its Last Patch, Larian Looks Toward The Future
Briefly

The recent launch of Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 has sparked a surge in player engagement, thanks to the addition of cross-platform capabilities and 12 new subclasses. Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke expressed pride in the game's development journey, highlighting the update's significant impact on player counts, peaking over 169,000 concurrent users. He also noted the thriving mod support as a factor contributing to the game's longevity. Looking ahead, Vincke indicated that while the studio is not pursuing Baldur's Gate 4, they are developing at least two other major projects, one of which is set to be an expansive RPG.
"Feeling good today about where we are with BG3. Patch 8 got a lot of people playing again. It took a lot of development effort but I'm happy we did it."
"With mod support thriving, I think the game will now continue to do well for quite some time, it gives us room to focus on making our next big thing as good as we can."
