Santiago Gomez, a Mexico City native and former investment banker, has transformed New York’s sporting landscape by introducing padel, a popular racket sport from Mexico. After a successful career in hospitality, he launched Padel Haus in Williamsburg in 2022, marking New York's first padel club. Within 10 months, over 7,000 people had booked courts, demonstrating the sport's growing popularity. Gomez plans to expand further, with new clubs opening in Dumbo, Nashville, and Atlanta, and an upcoming 20,000-square-foot facility in Greenpoint, reflecting the sport's rising profile in the U.S.
"People were building padel courts in their homes, or they were building padel courts at office buildings. It kind of became the amenity that every building wanted to have."
"I rediscovered padel, and that's what gave me the idea of opening the first padel club in New York."
