Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN undersecretary-general for political and peacebuilding affairs, stated that the external support contributing to the conflict in Sudan is unconscionable and illegal, demanding an end to the weapon supplies.
The ongoing civil war in Sudan, ignited by a power struggle between the RSF and SAF, has resulted in over 24,000 deaths and displaced 11 million people, raising alarms about the humanitarian crisis.
The UN has highlighted that both the RSF and SAF are escalating their military operations fueled by significant external support, exacerbating the violence and humanitarian situation in Sudan.
DiCarlo emphasized it's critical for the rival factions in Sudan to engage in negotiations, yet their belief that military victory is achievable, supported by external nations, continues to hinder peace efforts.
