Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated, "We will do what's necessary if the People's Protection Units (YPG) fail to meet Ankara's demands," indicating a potential military operation against Kurdish forces.
The situation following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad allows Turkiye the opportunity to intervene against the YPG, as the new Syrian leadership has the power to address this issue independently.
Fidan noted that the presence of the YPG is pivotal to Turkiye's security strategy, viewing the group as linked to the PKK, which has long been labeled a terrorist organization.
Fidan stressed the need for international fighters from Turkiye, Iran, and Iraq to leave Syria immediately, highlighting a dire expectation for action in the region.
