While Morin spoke, both networks chose to focus on other content, which led to outrage from officials like Steven Cheung and Stephen Miller, who deemed the media's neglect "shameful" and showed a lack of compassion for crime victims caused by illegal immigrants. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr also accused the networks of misrepresenting facts to the public regarding related cases.
"SHAMEFUL that [CNN] and [MSNBC] refuses to take Angel Mom Patty Morin as she recounts the terrible tragedy of how an illegal killed her sweet daughter, Rachel," Cheung wrote on X.
"Comcast outlets spent days misleading the American public - implying that Abrego Garcia was merely a law abiding U.S. citizen, just a regular 'Maryland man,'" Carr wrote on X.
