Five Thai captives held by Hamas in Gaza for over a year were released last month and returned home to Bangkok, where they were warmly greeted by their families. Their release occurred amid a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, which paused ongoing military actions. The emotional reunion was marked by gratitude from the returning captives and their families. Thai officials, including Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, expressed relief and thanked various countries for facilitating their release, emphasizing the captives' good health upon return and the government's commitment to their welfare.
We are all truly thankful. I don't know what else to say, we are all deeply touched to come back to our birthplace to be standing here.
This is emotional to come back to the embrace of their families. We never gave up and this was the fruit of that.
