"These innocent burros were victims of a senseless act of violence," said Suzanne Roy of the American Wild Horse Conservation in the BLM's statement. "The perpetrators of these federal crimes must be brought to justice."
Investigators linked the 2019 burro killings to two vehicles - a gray or silver 2008 Toyota pickup with flared fenders and a white 2008 Toyota pickup with a white camper shell, captured on surveillance. A .30-06 caliber rifle and unique red or orange painted casings were identified as the weapons used.
