While the capitalist economic system considers land to be a commodity that is privately owned and profited from, our communities seek to be in a reciprocal relationship with the land.
For Black and Indigenous communities, the forces of White supremacy and racial capitalism have severed our relationship to land and ancestral practices of stewardship.
Black- and Indigenous-led organizations are providing equitable financing rooted in ancestral values for farmers, land stewards, and entrepreneurs to reclaim and restore land.
To transform the financial landscape, traditional values and practices must be prioritized, as current systems hinder the investment potential of BIPOC communities.
