"Kamala finally has an online presence," says Marlon Twyman, a professor at USC Annenberg specializing in social network analysis. "How much time are people spending researching her impact? Are we critically examining what we're seeing online?"
In the case of Harris, there are noticeable fissures among Black progressives online. Some feel obligated to support her, while others call for a more imaginative political future and are critical of her record.
"I hate hearing the lesser of two evils because we are threatened with fascism on the other side," said Nicholas Ashe, emphasizing the complexities of issues like reproductive justice and the economy on the ballot.
