"At one time, we were 30% African American," said Veronica Jones, president of the Altadena Historical Society, highlighting the significant Black community in Altadena.
"About that time it was pretty difficult, as a Black person, to get past Grant, past Woodberry, really," Shelly Daniels recalled, reflecting on the challenges faced by Black families in the past.
"You've got three generations," said Altadena resident Pauline Daniels, emphasizing the deep roots and legacy of Black families affected by the Eaton Fire.
"I've raised my kids here," Jamaica Hughes lamented, voicing her determination to return and rebuild after the destruction caused by the Eaton Fire.
