Plapp, despite his impressive climbs and efforts, couldn't break free from the strong competition led by Jhonatan Narvaez, who won the stage. Plapp's performance improved his overall standing to sixth, reflecting a determined effort from the team, although they ultimately felt they fell short of their ambitious goals.
"I had really good legs. I think I was probably the strongest climber there today in terms of working on the front and trying to just activate the race."
"I'm never going to beat those guys in a bonus sprint, so it was either get away and win solo, or [try] to get as big as break as I can."
