UCI World Cup is Coming For One of Whistler's Gnarliest Trails
"The inaugural UCI DH World Cup race in Whistler will take place September 26-27, 2026 on the Whistler Bike Park's formidable 1199 trail. 1199 is currently home to the Candian Open DH race that takes place during Crankworx Whistler and is known for being one of the most technical race tracks around. Notably, Jackson Goldstone, who is currently one of the best downhill racers in the world, was raised on the trails of Whistler Bike Park but has never actually raced the Canadian Open DH."
"Our team takes pride in delivering an incredible experience for guests and athletes alike, and I'm excited for this to be on full display next year. Our team built and designed the 1199 Downhill track for the sole purpose of hosting events of this caliber, and we are thrilled to be hosting the UCI World Cup Downhill at the WMBP starting in 2026."
On August 25, 2025 the Union Cycliste Internationale designated Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park as a host for UCI Downhill World Cup races from fall 2026 through 2028. The inaugural World Cup event will run September 26–27, 2026 on the park's 1199 trail. The 1199 trail currently hosts the Canadian Open DH during Crankworx and is known as one of the most technical race tracks. Jackson Goldstone grew up riding Whistler trails but has not raced the Canadian Open DH. Whistler Blackcomb will act as the local organizing committee and aims to support shoulder-season tourism, local businesses, and Canadian athletes. Recent UCI seasons have already added North American stops such as Lake Placid and Mont Sainte-Anne.
