A 13-year-old boy has been charged with murder following a hit-and-run incident involving a bicyclist in Albuquerque, NM. The incident was recorded from inside a stolen car, which revealed the teenagers' intentions to hit the victim, 63-year-old Scott Dwight Habermehl, as he rode to work. Accompanied by a 15-year-old, both are charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of a handgun. An 11-year-old was also present but cannot be charged with murder due to age. Police are working with social workers for possible charges against him.
The crash was recorded from inside the car and circulated on social media, giving investigators clear evidence that the act was deliberate.
Detectives are working with prosecutors and state social workers to determine what charges the 11-year-old may face and whether he can be held on those charges.
