Brian Fitzgerald, a director at Credit Suisse, crashed into Hilda Griffiths in Regent's Park while cycling above speed limits, causing her death.
Cyclists in the UK are exempt from national speed limits but can be prosecuted for cycling furiously or dangerously, according to the Highway Code.
Mr Fitzgerald expressed sympathy to the family of Ms Griffiths, mentioning uncertainty about road markings warning cyclists to slow down before the collision.
