'Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win' - Primoz Roglic suffers dent to Giro d'Italia GC plans after crash and time loss on gravel roads
Briefly

Primož Roglič's performance during stage 9 of the Giro d'Italia was heavily marred by crashes and equipment failures. While he initially positioned himself well, a major crash with Tom Pidcock and subsequent puncture left him trailing behind key competitors like Juan Ayuso. Despite the efforts of his teammates, including Giulio Pellizzari, Roglič struggled to minimize his time loss against a strong UAE Team Emirates group, ultimately finishing the stage demoralized but determined after sustaining injuries from the falls.
"It was just hard with the pace in the front and in the back, obviously," Roglič told reporters at the finish. "So I didn't feel the best of the best then, but we'll take it. I finished it, and now we'll have to see what we do next."
Roglič mostly used a notably strong teammate Giulio Pellizzari to try to minimise the time gaps on the remaining three sectors of gravel, and he also received collaboration in the chase from Q36.5 as they worked for Pidcock as well as some assistance from GC outsider Derek Gee.
