The UCI race incident database recorded 497 incidents during the 2024 season. Unprovoked rider errors were responsible for 35% of these incidents, demonstrating significant areas for potential safety improvements.
As part of the SafeR project, the UCI is collecting data to analyze race incidents and enhance safety measures. Despite substantial efforts, major improvements are still pending.
