"This 130mm travel frame beautifully blends 3D printed titanium junctions with expertly hand-welded titanium tubes, representing an exciting step forward in hybrid frame construction. Plus, the prototype features a unique CBF suspension layout with a vertical shock that we haven't seen on a Revel ever before."
"Revel has taken a new approach with Project RaTical, deviating from its award-winning Canfield Balance Formula suspension platform seen on their carbon bikes. This new layout is still from the brilliant mind of Chris Canfield and offers a similar ride feel, but with a few tweaks. The kinematic differs from other carbon models, which feature a horizontal shock and clevis."
Project RaTical is a 130mm travel full-suspension titanium prototype that combines 3D-printed titanium junctions with hand-welded titanium tubes. The prototype uses a unique CBF-derived suspension layout that incorporates a vertical shock rather than the horizontal shock and clevis found on Revel's carbon models. The kinematic offers a similar ride feel and power transfer goals to Canfield Balance Formula designs but with tuned differences and pivot placements reminiscent of Horst-link elements. Development involved Chris Canfield and a top titanium factory. Project RaTical serves as both a suspension-kinematics and materials-engineering experiment that could inform future frame layouts and carbon models.
