The Paris-Roubaix and Paris-Roubaix Femmes races were marked by excitement but also significant crashes, attributed partially to wet conditions. Notable riders like Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Tadej Pogačar faced falls yet continued racing. Reports from teams revealed both injuries, like Stefan Küng's severe facial wounds requiring stitches, and some good news for other competitors. Davide Ballerini faced a more troubling end to his race after crashing into a spectator, denying him a chance to finish despite being a capable racer. These incidents portray the harsh reality of professional cycling events.
Stefan Küng actually made it over the line in 43rd place but there was no mistaking that he had fallen as he crossed the line in Roubaix with a badly scraped and blood-covered nose and chin, a banged up knee, and blood spattered over his skin and jersey.
The medical reports have been filtering out since this race with good news for some and not such good news for others.
