Parallel Lines: Cassie Eckroth
Briefly

Cassie Eckroth's injury from a surfing accident led to paralysis, yet she found hope and adaptive sports through community support, bringing new life to her passion for outdoor activities.
Recovery was hard in the beginning, as it is for many people who suffer from a traumatic injury. I basically started out thinking that there just wasn't very much out there to do in the world of adaptive sports.
Through mutual friends, I found out about the High Fives Foundation. The nonprofit invited me to a community day where I rode my first adaptive mountain bikes.
It was the first thing I tried after my accident, and I realized pretty quickly that I wanted to get my own rig to get back to my passion for hiking.
