Miguel Angel Lopez's doping ban appeal rejected by CAS
Briefly

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld Miguel Angel López's four-year doping ban initially imposed by the UCI for utilizing Menotropin, a substance used to enhance testosterone levels. His ban, retroactively dated from July 25, 2023, stemmed from his violation during the 2022 Giro d'Italia. Following an appeal hearing, CAS confirmed the findings that López had violated anti-doping rules and, as a result, his competitive results from 2022 were annulled. The investigation was carried out by the International Testing Agency based on information from Spanish authorities.
Mr López was in possession of Menotropin in violation of the UCI Anti-Doping Rules and took delivery of the substance sometime between May 1-5, 2022.
CAS stated that it was satisfied the UCI has discharged its burden of proof, unanimously ruling that López had possessed and used the prohibited substance in breach of UCI regulations.
