'I'm gutted' - Stevie Williams to miss Tour de France and national championships as knee issue continues to disrupt his 2025 racing
Briefly

Stevie Williams has announced that he will not participate in the Tour de France or the British national championships in Wales due to a knee injury, specifically quadriceps tendinopathy. Despite an impressive start to 2024 with victories in Australia and Belgium, he has been struggling with recurring pain since the beginning of the season. After attempting recovery and competing in several events, he has decided to take a break from racing to focus on his rehabilitation. Williams expressed disappointment about missing key races but remains determined to return to competitive form soon.
Since the start of my season in Australia, I've had an issue with my right knee, a quadriceps tendinopathy, which is very tricky to manage, and it hasn't resolved.
As a cyclist, the only thing you want to do is race, so this season has been incredibly frustrating, but I know that these things can't be rushed.
Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to race the national championships in Wales or the Tour De France. I'm gutted to miss them, especially racing Nationals in front of a home crowd.
I'm working really hard to get back to full fitness with the support of the team and I hope I'll be back on the start line soon.
