Rapha's new generation Pro Team Powerweave road and gravel shoes have undergone significant design changes, featuring new uppers, soles, and a slip-on sock-like fit while retaining the durable Powerweave fabric. These updates are informed by feedback from 130 athletes during the Wear Test Programme, aiming to balance structure and comfort. The sock collar replaces conventional tongues for a snug fit and pressure distribution. While the previous model was comfortable, it faced abrasion issues, and the updated construction improves upon both durability and usability for diverse riding conditions.
We've just received the new shoes in to test. As a long-time fan of the fit & usability of the previous generation, these shake things up a lot!
Rapha describes the new shoes as the direct result of their global athlete Wear Test Programme. With 130 pro & amateur athletes riding in the latest next-gen shoes over all surfaces.
The biggest change comes from the soft knitted 'sock collar' construction. A conventional tongue is replaced with a soft, stretchy material that encircles the foot and closes the gap where the tongue would be.
After five years of using 3D-woven synthetic fabric in shoes, Rapha Powerweave is refreshed with improved durability, strength, and a snug fit.
