Dunbar experienced wrist pain from a crash during the final kilometers of the stage. Though X-rays did not show a fracture, he was withdrawn from the race for safety reasons. Dunbar described the crash as sketchy, indicating he had deliberately positioned himself at the back of the peloton to avoid trouble. Despite his efforts to steer clear of the incident, he fell hard at high speed, resulting in a broken bike and torn jersey and shorts. He reflected on the risks of cycling at such high speeds without protection.
Following a crash in the final kilometres of yesterday's stage, Dunbar has been suffering with pain in his wrist and a decision was taken to stop, for his safety.
I saw the crash happen, but I think we were doing 70kph or something at the time. I actually thought I managed to hold it upright, but I just went the wrong side of the bike.
