Christian Scaroni from Astana-XDS achieved his team's first win of the season and his own third professional victory at the Classic Var. He triumphed after a fierce competition on the challenging Mur de Fayence, overcoming a breakaway that was caught just 1.3 km from the finish. Scaroni's attack during the final sprint secured his win ahead of teammates from Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale. Despite having three podiums earlier this season, this marked his first win since June 2022, bringing him great satisfaction and signaling a promising season ahead for both him and his team.
Scaroni said, "It was really hard. We caught the breakaway [with] 1k to finish, [Nicola] Conci did incredible work for me. I waited to attack Lafay and then the last 200 I gave everything."
Scaroni expressed his feelings about the win: "I think I deserve it, because I [finished on the podium], the victory [did] not arrive, but today it arrived. I'm really happy for the first victory of the team."
