BMW's art car world tour stops at art dubai with andy warhol's vivid M1
Briefly

To celebrate 50 years of its Art Car Collection, BMW showcases its iconic collaboration with Andy Warhol at Art Dubai. Warhol painted the BMW M1 in 1979, applying bold strokes to represent speed. Unlike previous artists who used sketches, Warhol painted directly on the body, finishing in just 28 minutes. His innovative approach influenced the collection, which now features 20 vehicles designed by prominent artists. This initiative was born from the vision of Hervé Poulain, blending art with racing tradition, reflecting the evolution of automobiles as art.
Warhol's approach to the M1 remains radical; he insisted on painting the vehicle himself, applying 13 pounds of paint in loose, gestural strokes, evoking movement.
Through the Art Car series, BMW reinterprets the automobile as a cultural object, merging high-speed machinery with artistic expression in a unique collaboration.
