Rent in Berlin skyrocketed and finding housing became incredibly competitive. Berlin is known to be fairly affordable compared to other European capitals. However, over the last few years, it has become one of the most expensive cities for renters in Germany as housing costs have gone up. Many projects to build more housing have been placed on hold. The German capital had a vacancy rate of less than 1% as of 2023.
Dresden gets less crowded with tourists; Berlin attracts millions of visitors each year. Popular areas like Alexanderplatz and Brandenburg Gate were constantly bustling with tourists. During peak travel seasons, this led to overcrowded trains and delays for regular commuters. In comparison, Dresden draws millions fewer visitors a year, allowing us to enjoy its culture and lifestyle without the constant influx of tourists.
